SOUTHERN CAMEROON DECLARE 1st OCTOBER INDEPENDENCE DAY

Today is October 1, 2021. October 1, 1961, is a day Southern Cameroon, a former British Trust territory gained independence.

In 1961 shortly after independence, Southern Cameroon voted to join East Cameroon (French Cameroon) for a federal status. This federal status was later changed to United Republic of Cameroon in 1972 by Ahidjo and Republic of Cameroon in 1984 by Paul Biya. The marriage between Southern Cameroon and East Cameroon is now termed today a marriage of inconvenience, that is why today Ambazonians who want a separate state as was the case in 1961, are celebrating Independence day not only to remember history, they hold it in their minds that the separation has taken place since October 1, 2017 when jailed leader, Sisiku Julius

Ayuk Tabe declared independence.
